A gift from grandma and grandpa

Of your own children you may have twenty photos

Of your grandchild they take thousands, and in ten years there'll be just as little of it left to find. Give the parents a place where it really is kept safe. And get a place in it yourself.

A whole year: Plus €29.99 or Premium €44.99 · one-off payment, no subscription that keeps running · you don't need to install anything

How it works

1. You buy a code

For a whole year. You pay once; the code arrives by email, and if you like it goes straight to the parents too.

2. They redeem it

The parents create a free account and enter the code. That's all they need to do, and they don't have to get a bank card out for anything.

3. You're part of it

They invite you to your grandchild's album. From then on you can follow along and send in memories yourself.

It's a gift to yourself too

Most gifts disappear into a cupboard. This is one you stay part of, even if you live far away or only see your grandchild every other week.

  • The photos on your phone belong there just as much. Sending a WhatsApp message is enough; they end up on the right date.
  • Record something in your own voice. A little story, a song from long ago, or just a quick hello. Later on, that's the first thing they'll want to hear again.
  • Tell them what it was like back then. You're often the only one who still remembers what their mum or dad was like as a child, and that isn't written down anywhere else.
  • Everything is private. No feed, no ads, European servers, and only the people the parents invite can see it.

Why this lasts and a cuddly toy doesn't

New parents get lots of things. Most of it is outgrown, broken or forgotten within a year. What they rarely get is time, and that's exactly what keeping memories takes.

This gift takes that work off their hands. Sending a photo on WhatsApp takes five seconds, and then it sits on the right day in the timeline, with the child's age next to it. Each week the app has one small question ready that takes a minute to answer. After a year there's a story that would otherwise never have been written down.

And it becomes more valuable over the years, not less. You can't say that about many gifts.

Or start it yourself and hand it over

Giving a code is the easiest way, but you don't have to. You can also create a free account yourself, set up your grandchild's profile and add a few of the photos on your phone. Then you invite the parents as co-parents.

  • They get the same rights as you: adding, editing, deleting and inviting family themselves
  • The album is already filled when you hand it over, so it doesn't feel like yet another empty app to set up
  • You simply keep taking part, with your own photos and voice messages

Do talk this over with the parents first. These are photos of their child, and that should stay their choice.

Create an account yourself

Free for up to twenty memories; after that you can take out a subscription yourself or give a code as a gift after all.

Are you the parent reading this?

Then send this page to your mum or dad. Many grandparents are looking for something that lasts and end up with yet another babygrow. This is a gift they take part in themselves.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to install an app myself?+

Not to give the gift. You buy a code and it arrives by email. If you'd like to follow along or send in photos afterwards, the parents invite you. That works through the website, and you can send photos simply via WhatsApp.

What exactly do they receive?+

A code. You can forward it yourself, or enter the parents' email address when you order and it goes straight to them as well. The parents create a free account and enter the code; from that moment the whole subscription is open to them.

Does a subscription keep running afterwards?+

No. You pay once for three months or a year, and then it simply stops. Nothing renews automatically and there's no direct debit. If the parents want to carry on, that's their own choice.

What if they don't use it?+

Then nothing else happens. The subscription runs out and nothing is charged. Whatever was saved during that time stays where it is and remains available for them to look at.

Our grandchild is a bit older already. Is this still worthwhile?+

Yes. You can fill it in retrospectively: a WhatsApp chat with years of photos can be imported in one go, with the original dates. So whatever already exists goes straight to the right place.

Can I add photos and stories myself?+

That's the nice thing about it. As soon as the parents give you access, you can send in photos, record something in your own voice, and tell them what things were like back then. You're often the only one who still remembers what their mum or dad was like as a child.

Can I also start it myself and bring the parents in afterwards?+

Yes. You create a free account yourself, set up your grandchild's profile and invite the parents as co-parents. They then have the same rights as you: adding, editing, deleting and inviting others themselves. Handy if you want to put the first photos in already, so it doesn't feel empty. Do talk it over with them, though: it's their child, after all.

Who can see those photos?+

Only the people the parents invite. There's no feed, there are no ads and the photos are stored on European servers. It's a private archive, not a social network.

How much does it cost?+

A year of Plus is €29.99 and a year of Premium €44.99. Premium adds audio memories and the letter for later. If you'd like a smaller gesture, three months is possible too: €9.99 for Plus and €14.99 for Premium.

In ten years, this is the gift that's still there

Choose a plan, pay once, and give the code to the parents. They'll sort out the rest in five minutes.
